Fig Clay

Clay can be dirt in the wrong hands, but clay can be art in the right hands.-Lupita Nyongo-

The children had the opportunity to work with clay using their fingers and hands. They continue the exploration with their own techniques which are squish, knead, poke and prod nature loose parts. With this clay approach children experience hand eye coordination and practice using the small muscles of their fingers and hands, as they prod small rocks and caps to add detail on their clay piece.

Teacher Reflection

Clay is part of our art studio daily. This sensory medium offers many opportunities for children to express their abilities, manipulating and engaging in focused ways. Each child had an amaz-ingly unique style of techniques when allowed to choose freely.
