The children are drawn to create Gaudí’s house out of blocks. While their is con- sensus small details emerge. The members are agile workers and comfortable communicators, discussing the details does not slow down their rhythm .

 

Sophia

¿Podemos hacer nuestro plan de la casa Gaudí Ms. Vania? (Can we make our plan for the house of Gaudí?)

 

Ms. Vania

¡Si! puedes preguntarle a tu grupo para que te ayuden. (Yes! you can ask your group for help)

 

Sophia

¡Emma! ¡Diego¡ Necesito su ayuda para trabajar en la casa del Sr. Gaudí. (Emma! Diego! I need help on making Mr. Gau-

dí’s house)

 

Ms. Vania

¿Cual parte de la casa del Sr. Gaudí van a construir? (What part of Gaudí’s house are you going to build?)

 

Sophia

Yo voy hacer las paredes medianas. (I am going to make the walls medium)

Sophia used her arms to show her friends what medium looks

Diego

Yo voy hacer el cuadrado grande de abajo to hold the house down. (I am going to make the square from the bot

Emma

Sophia

Guys que tal si hacemos las paredes muy altas como a si. (Guys, what about if we make the walls as high like this much)

Sophia then showed children the hight she wanted the walls of the house to be.

Emma

Yeah! Esa es una buena idea Sophia aquí te traje mas

cuadrados. (Yeah! that is a great idea Sophia here I brought you more squares)

Diego

Mmmm… I like that idea. to me it needs to have carpet so the people that pass by don’t slip)

Sophia

Okay, Okay fine! Que vamos a usar Emma? (Okay okay fine, what are we going to use Emma?)

Emma

Yo se estas telas. (I know these fabrics)

Diego

Yo puedo ayudar a poner la pared de muchos colors because Gaudí used a lots of colors on his houses. (I can can help put the

wall with a lot of colors because Gaudí used a lot of color on his houses)

Emma

Yo te puedo ayudar Diego! (I can help you Diego!

Diego

Okay but tu puedes poner los red ones como rectangle shape I’ll show you. (Okay but you can put the red ones I’ll show you)

Sophia

Oooh que tal si ponemos piso adentro de la casa! (What about if we put floor inside the house?

Emma

Sophia ¡Nooooo! La casa tiene que tener alfombra. (Sophia nooo! The house needs to have carpet)

Sophia

¡Perro esta pieza cave aquí mira! (But this piece fits here look!)

Emma

¡No! Sophia no me escuchas tiene alfombra porque la jente pasa por a hi y no se resbalan. (No! Sophia your not listening

Teacher Reflection

Children are fine tuning their communication skills. The more they collaborate, the more they learn feedback is an essential part of critically forming plans. The ability to consider others perspectives allows children to consider the larger implications before committing completely to a single idea.
